First Nations AAU National Wrestling Tournament June 3-5, 2014

The First Nations first national tournament was a success with 48 wrestling participating in this year’s tournament. We had wrestlers come from New Mexico, Minnesota, North Dakota, Arizona, Washington, Montana, Florida, and of course South Dakota. It was a great experience for each individual as they got to attend a wrestling clinic put on by South Dakota State University’s head wrestling coach Chris Bono. There was three sessions for the kids to attend and we got a lot of good feedback from the participants and parents. 

Sisseton, S.D/Turtle Mountain, North Dakota/Washington all had 3 gold medal winners

Mobridge, S.D/ Cass Lake, MN/ Ronan, MT all had 2 gold medal winners

Wagner, S.D had one gold medal winner

First Nations AAU National Basketball Tournament June 10-12, 2014

The First Nations National Basketball tournament seen two 18U Boys teams and three 14U Boys teams compete in this year’s tournament. This year’s tournament seen local talent from South Dakota, but sees high hopes with attracting talent from across the country. Basketball has always gained much attention across Indian country and we are sure this tournament will take off and bring in the best talent this game has to offer.

18U Boys

14U Boys

1st place Lower Brule Sioux (Lower Brule, S.D)

2nd place Tz Wambdi (Agency Village, S.D)

3rd place Tiospa Eagles (Agency Village, S.D)

 

First Nations AAU National Golf Tournament June 17-18, 2014

Our first national golf tournament has been rescheduled until the end of July. Postponement due because of weather (rain).
